Tradition, Discipline, and Honor - these words reflect well the spirit of the Southeast Iowa Regional Fire Honor Guard. It takes discipline and commitment to be a part of this elite group Centennials. Each member is handpicked and must adhere to strict standards at all times. He or she must also be willing to travel on short notice. Other criteria used to choose these select few include familiarity with marching, drilling and knowledge of ceremonial procedures.

To represesent the "best of the American's Emergency Responders" these Centennials must maintain proficiency through practice and training. Initially, team members receive the highest of ceremonial training, followed by monthly in service training. Through this training, commitment, and discipline, the presentation of the flag at a fallen responder's funeral, is not only reverent, but awe-inspiring.

It is not uncommon for a solemn hush to come over the crowd - commands snapped and motions precise - with pride looming in the air, commanding respect in anticipation of the Guard of Honor making their way forward carrying the pride of America - our national flag. We represent the traditions of our United States Armed Forces whom we also support in many ways.
